How I Used Natural Resources to Fight GERD (Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease)

I did not choose this as a diet to lose weight. It is a necessary regiment for my body to continue in a healthy state. Because of the (GERD) Gastroesophageal reflux disease. This occurs when stomach acid used for digestion repeatedly backs up, or refluxes, into the esophagus. GERD is also known as acid reflux disease.

I do not like the word disease, because when I made it through cancer victoriously, I declared I was finished with disease.  I researched GERD and the trigger foods involved and decided to take this bull by the horns and participate in my own healing.

I had to alter my diet and eating habits to allow my digestive system to heal. I will give you a snapshot of how I changed my eating habits:

  • do not eat large portions at meal times. I eat about 4 times a day in small portions every 3 hours.
  • limit my sugar intake
  • no spicy foods, fried foods (unless I fry in coconut oil)
  • eat mostly broiled, baked meats. I do not eat pork or beef
  • do not drink while I’m eating, I wait at least 30 min to an hour afterwards (only because of reflux..but you really shouldn’t drink while consuming your food.
  • before I eat I drink organic apple cider vinegar ind warm water.
  • use sea salt to season your foods

 The Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar

Raw Organic Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) is made from nutritious, organically grown apples and retains many beneficial components because raw apple cider vinegar is not pasteurized. ACV undergoes two fermentation processes where it produces enzymes and life giving nutrients that make apple cider vinegar the powerhouse it is.

Differences Between Clear Vinegar and Raw Apple Cider Vinegar

Clear vinegar has none of the benefits of raw organic apple cider vinegar. Through its processing and distilling, it’s been stripped of everything beneficial and can be detrimental to your health since it is dead instead of alive.

Only raw organic apple cider vinegar has the “mother of vinegar” that makes the vinegar so beneficial. The “mother” is made up living nutrients and bacteria. You can actually see it settled in the bottom of the bottle like sediment.

Beneficial ingredients in raw apple cider vinegar give it its power to make us feel better, look better and feel energized. Some of the beneficial ingredients in raw apple cider vinegar:

  • Potassium      – helps to prevent brittle teeth, hair loss and runny noses.
  • Pectin      – helps to regulate blood pressure and reduce bad cholesterol.
  • Malic Acid      – gives ACV the properties of being resistant to viruses, bacteria, and      fungus.
  • Calcium      – supports strong bones and teeth.
  • Ash –      gives ACV its alkaline property which aids your body in maintaining proper      pH levels for a healthy alkaline state.
  • Acetic Acid      – It appears that this acid slows the digestion of starch which can help      to lower the rise in glucose that commonly occurs after meals.

Benefits: 1 tablespoon of Raw Apple Cider Vinegar mixed in 4 ounces of purified water after a meal has been used as a natural remedy for heartburn and as a replacement for toxic heartburn medications.

  • Helps clear up skin conditions and blemishes giving a      smoother texture and complexion.
